We encourage the idea of buying fine quality garments that will last longer - the longer you wear your clothes without replacing them, the more sustainable your attire.

ORIGIN OF LINEN FABRIC

Linen fabric is just amazing with it’s outstanding benefits. However, the most important benefit of linen is the fact that it can be sustainably grown, produced and processed in a natural way.

Flax plant is a renewable resource that grows organically – it is not demanding to soil, requires much less water and no chemical pesticides or fertilisers to grow and mature. Flax plants need 60% less water than cotton. Natural rainfall is usually enough to irrigate flax plants grown in Europe.

Textile industry is the second largest consumer and polluter of water. While flax can be organically processed without chemicals or intensive dyes, it also means no water pollution is made.

As impressive as it might sound, flax often comes close to the organic standard without any efforts.

ZERO-WASTE PRIORITY

Linen production generates no waste during manufacture - the entire flax plant is being used, by spinning and weaving it into a fibre. It is 100% used, meaning that almost no waste is left after cultivation.

Moreover, this sustainable fabric is fully biodegradable and can be easily recycled. Zero impact to our nature and health.

At Jurga Linen, we aim to minimize our waste by using most of the textile leftovers. We carefully plan our cuts of fabrics by fitting few products to the same piece of fabric, using smaller cuts to create tea towels, napkins, tote bags and other accessories.
